Date night @ Sushi Glas!

Since moving to Germany Hubs and I have been having some serious Japanese food withdrawals namely sushi!  Living in San Francisco complete with it's very own Japantown with a plethera of Japanese restaurants to choose from seriously spoiled us!  We haven't had any luck with the Japanese restaurants around us so I decided to do a little Google research and found that there was a place in Nuremburg that had great reviews.

Nuremburg is roughly an hour and a half from where we live right now (3 hours roundtrip!) so it's definitely quite a hike for us.  *sigh* The things I will do (and make hubby do) for good food hahah!

They started dinner off with some wet towels.. that weren't hot sadly (umm.. hello they're called hot towels for a reason!!).. and some bean sprouts.. the bean sprouts needed more seasame oil.

Seaweed Salad

I was disappointed by the opening but our seaweed salad app was SO NOMMY.  Hubs and I were fighting over this dish.. he kept sliding it over to his side of the table and I kept sliding it back.  Next time we go back we're ordering one for each of us.  Bonus points for the awesome and adorable presentation!  A carrot cherry blossom! ADORBS!

Shrimp & Vegetable Tempera

This was quite tasty the batter was light and crisp and the veggies were delish!  The mushrooms they used for this dish were out of this world.. but if you look closely you will see that the shrimp (and there was sadly only 1 shrimp!) is curled up.. not flat like it's suppose to be :(  I don't know if it's a mental thing or what but my Tempera craving has sadly not been satisfied! hahaha.

Buckwheat Soba

Needed more flavoring the soup was too bland although the veggies look so pretty in this pic right?? hahaha

Negitoro, Ebi, Avocado & Cucumber, Unagi & Cucumber, Lobster, Unagi & Cream Cheese

The real reason we made the hike!

SUSHI!!!

Truth be told the rest of the meal was just OK.  The Sushi however was DELISH!  Hubby and I have already agreed the next time we come back we're just gonna do Sushi and only Sushi.  I finally got my Unagi fix (HUZZAH!), and the lobster was very clean and sweet tasting.  The Hubs said that his Negitoro roll was the BEST Negitoro he's had in his entire life and that it was buttery and smooth.

I think I'm starting to salivate as I type this!

If you're ever in Nuremburg I def recommend this place but go for the Seaweed Salad & Sushi! :)

Hope life in Germany is treating you well, do you speak German? A good thing about Germany (well when i went anyways) is that they all speak English!
I can't believe your hubby drove 3hours to eat sushi with you, that is the sweetest thing ever! When I saw the tiny salmon on top of your salad I was like "erm..." but after reading your post the salad sounds delish! Lol i love how you fought over it, so cute!!

  7. Mmmm, you're making me crave sushi! But I'm stuck at home studying and vowed not to leave my house, haha.

  9. Ooo you're coming to London!!! You'll have so much fun, Christmas is a great time to visit, although there will be overcrowding but that's practically everyday!! Public transport will be a pain, you have been warned!! :)

Oh I feel so amateur recommending food to you because you always eat amazing stuff!! Ok here it goes!
Student friendly places are Hare & Tortoise which is Japanese and they have various dishes and sushi. There is one located in Blackfriar's. Bibimbap in Soho is really nice, they specialise in Korean Bibimbap and it's a cute little place hidden in Soho!

    Slightly nicer places:
Dim T by London Bridge has nice food and AMAZING deserts, the view is very romantic, you can see Tower bridge from the windows!

There's also Mint Leaf, Mr Chow (Knightsbridge, Chinese food), Jamie Oliver's Italian is quite good...

High tea in the Mill bank tower is lovely, or at the Ritz!

That's all I can come up with for now, but you can always find a place to eat in London :) I'm so excited for you! Just email me if you have any questions and stuff! A good website to check travel in London is Transport for London (TFL) by the way, you can plan you journey routes with it, so useful! Hope this was slightly useful to you! :)

Oh and I'm glad you liked my Dermalogica review! xX <3

  17. Geez, from San Fran to Germany? To me, that must feel like moving to Mars or something. O_o

There's a little Japanese town in downtown LA called "Lil' Tokyo" and I've always had that fear of never being able to experience the wonders and joys of eating at places in Lil' Tokyo, ever again, because of moving somewhere far from it.

Thank you for reconfirming that fear. D=
