The craziest part about this whole thing is that this was actually a blogger contest that I entered and I WON!!  I cannot believe it.  I'm being featured on Monster.com Beknown Blog and I won a Apple Iphone 4S and a $500 AMEX GC!!! hahaha I started hyperventilating and I called out to The Hubs to read the e-mail I got letting me know I'd won just to verify I was reading it correctly and when my husband exclaimed "OMG YOU WON YOU WON" I responded by saying "OMGGGGGG SHOES!" BAHAHAHAHA.


I started blogging a year ago just for something to do because I've lived in so many wonderful places in my lifetime (Washington, DC, Honolulu, HI and San Francisco) and I've made some amazing friends in my lifetime and I just wanted to share with friends and family what I was up to but blogging has really turned into something so much more!  Thank you to everyone that's followed me on this journey! :) 

Monster and BeKnown Makeup Giveaway!

Monster.com recently launched BeKnown, a professional networking app for Facebook. BeKnown allows you to set up a professional profile directly on Facebook that is completely separate from your personal Facebook page.  BeKnown also lets you conduct a job search of Monster's database of jobs without ever leaving BeKnown or Facebook. By tapping into the networks of their Facebook friends, young professionals can easily connect and see who among their existing contacts is connected to a company or job opportunity they are interested in.

BeKnown got me thinking about my very first job interview where I walked in dressed like this.

AHAHAHA!

Needless to say I did NOT get that job!  I mean seriously a leather skirt and sequins?!  

 

If I were to walk into an interview today this is what I would wear!

Black is seen as an authoritative color however an entire black suit can be too strong and somewhat alienating.  A dark gray suit however gives an pulled together appearance without coming off too aggressive.  Make sure the blouse you choose is not too low cut, see through or lacy.  I chose a gorgeous royal blue as the shell because people equate blue with being traditional and trustworthy.

A classic pump no higher then 4 inches with a toe that's not too rounded or too pointy.  Tripping over yourself as you walk into the interview does not instill confidence in your interviewer ahahaha.

Simple studs are great because you don't want your giant hoop earrings to be swishing around while you talk.  A nice watch is perfect on the wrist as it gives the impression that you are an punctual and efficient individual.  Also make sure your nails are well manicured something like a pinky nude is perfect!

A nice structured bag where you can keep your portfolio (and those extra resumes!) really ties your outfit together and gives you a pulled together businesslike appearance.  Also turn your cell phone and Ipod off and tuck them inside your bag before you walk into the office building.  You never know who you could be standing next to in the elevator on your way up. 

Lastly do you know how important makeup is?  It can take you from being disheveled to polished and take you from feeling unprepared to confident just because you put your best face forward!

7 Random Facts about Me

1. I'm obsessed with the Real Housewives of Orange County - They're my absolute favorite group out of all the different housewife series.

2. My favorite new TV show is American Dad which is a spin off of Family Guy.

3. My favorite places in the world are Taipei and Paris.  If I could live in either city I would in a heartbeat!

4. I'm super clumsy I find bruises and scratches on my body as a regular everyday occurrence and I have no idea where they are from.

5. I don't eat tomatoes.  The texture of it seriously freaks me out.. it's firm.. it's soft.. it's mushy.. it's got little seeds in it.. just freaks me out! But.... I love all tomato byproducts.. ketchup, thousand island, marinara sauce, vodka sauce.. hahah you name it I love it.  Weird right?

6. I don't drink alcohol.  I did before in college.. and I drank A LOT!.. but i'm highly allergic and the getting really and when I say really I mean REALLY sick after just two sips is just not fun anymore.

7. I cannot eat sashimi I think it's a psychological thing because I also can't eat steak tartare or beef carpaccio.. I can't stomach anything raw.
