85c Degrees Bakery + Blogger Meetup

On our way to San Antonio from San Francisco we made a pit stop in Southern California.  One of the reasons I love blogging is because it's given me the opportunity to connect with and befriend so many people around the world.

Interestingly enough blogging has also allowed me to RE-connect with some friends from Hawaii that I made nearly 10 years ago!  Four Carats is a blog made up of four fabulous BFF's from Hawaii.  Lucky for me two of the sparkly four carats now live in Southern California and were able to meet me for a quickie group meet up before we continued on our journey to San Antonio.

One of my all time favorite places to eat in Taiwan is 85 degree's bakery.  It's the Taipei version of Starbucks.  When I heard there was an 85 degree's in SoCal I flipped a lid!

This by the way was the line on a totally random Thursday night at 8pm.  WHAT?!  Have you ever seen a line at a bakery at 8pm on a random Thurs??  Crazy right?

Two of the four gorgeous girls that make up Four Carats

There was actually a "bakery bouncer" who let a few people in at a time.  Hahaha.  It was like standing outside of a club bahaha.

Poki the superstar!!  So adorable :)

Step 1 - Grab a tray
Step 2 - Grab a tong
Step 3 - Grab everything!

*Drool*  So many yummy baked goodies.

P.S. - I actually got yelled at NOT once but twice for taking these pictures bahahah.
I suffer for this blog. HAHAHA. jkjkjkjk!

P.S.S. - The square toast you see above has this butter/sugar/condescend milk coating on top.
IT IS SO GOOD.

  33. wow the pastries and the drink looks amazing!! where is this at?? I mean what is it called?

    ReplyDelete
  34. People take their pastries seriously, don't they. I've only ever known of such lines at Georgetown Cupcakes (nothing with such hype is worth the going - I hear from most people that the cupcakes are at best average). I can't believe they yelled at you - you should have told them of your blog (and then demanded royalties for ad space :P)

How was the bakery? Worth the line (at 8 PM no less!)

  35. That's my favorite place evvvver!

  36. I've been seeing your comments pop up on MANY of the blogs I follow so I HAD to stop by to say hi! OK...the last time I visited Taiwan was in 1989....yup! I remember 2 things, Sogo (which is now a so/so place bc bellavita has taken over my parents go back every year) and the bakeries! OMG this IS the bakery I remembered! Gorgeous set-up, beautiful lighting, with a long line! Thank you for helping me remember a place so long lost in time but not entirely in memory! I should make a trip back soon, Thank you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ahh! Irvine! XD I used to go to this same plaza quite often and 85 degrees would always be so packed! Their bread is soo good though. :]

I love how the blogger world can connect and reconnect friends. Looks like you had a great time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow that's so cool. I'm a blogger from Hawaii and wish they'd come back LMAO!! Nah, awesome photos. Looks like fun.

  39. I've never had a blog reunion ever! But... I did made friends with this blogger because we were both going through a rocky long distance relationship. Now, she got with my husband's best friend, AND yet I still haven't met her! Isn't that ridiculous!? LOL! It's nice that you meet bloggers though... I don't know how I would take it when I meet people from Blogger... I'm awfully shy!

And omg... that bakery looks so yummy! I wanna eat everything in there. I love pastries in general!

Oh and the e-reader that I got is called a literati from sharper image. It's a very basic e-reader. But I think I would recommend a nook fro Barnes and Nobles. I've been wanting one of those, but I thought that I need a basic e-reader so that I won't use the e-reader for the internet ! LOL... I'll use it SOLELY for reading.

  40. Yum, yum yum. Were those coconut buns that I saw in your pics?. You looked like you had such a great time on your blogger meet up. And a bouncer for a bakery? Now, i've officially seen everything! Thanks for the post :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wooow, you seem to have such a lovely time. And such a row Ö but if it's worth it I would have done the same :) Mmm... it looks really delcious. Ow, and I know, I also suffer sometime for blog pictures XD =p

    xxx

  42. Ahh the pastries. I know they have a Cafe something in Houston somewhere that's super infamous and renown but I've never had the chance to actually go there. Instead, I'm stuck with sub par pastries from other asian bakeries. Sadness. This was a lovely post and Poki is so darn cute!

    :):):)

  43. OMG I was just going to go to 85C yesterday when I went to South Coast Plaza! I love their Taro bread and their cakes (: Did you go to the Yogurtland next to 85C? They probably have the Hello Kitty collaboration that you really wanted to see! :D & If you're ever in the area in Costa Mesa/Irvine, South Coast Plaza has a BUNCH of brand name stores like Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Miu Miu which you said is really hard to find (:

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ok so the fact that there's a giant line for this bakery in So Cal where I can only imagine there's a TON of competition just makes me want to go so BADLY! So glad you got to meet up with your friends before heading down to Texas - it looks like you had a great time!

    ReplyDelete
  45. loooks delicious! wish there was one in Toronto!

    ReplyDelete
  46. WHOA! I can't believe people are lining up for Asian pastries!!! LOL If I told my mum this she'd think it was madness hahaha They do look good though, now this just makes me want to raid my closest asian bakery!

As for my Joe polishes they're actually a brand that was created by a Canadian Supermarket!!! Can you believe it! A supermarket that just use to sell food/produce about a decade back is branching into clothing and makeup! So sadly Im not sure where you could get this out of Canada =( Oh sweetie, Im sure you could pull of a white blazer EASY! Just look at you in your lovely white lace top! Sexxxy! OMG hot rollers?! That's soooo vintage and sexy!!! *imagine pin up girls with rollers in their hair* hahaha what's old is in/new ;) As for bag in Paris, yes Im excited too! *le sigh* even if I do purchase it my bf is going to hold it away from me until at least February! How evil is that?! He thinks Im way too spoiled with the Noe and Paris trip so he's going to make me suffer a bit!!! That monster!!!

  47. Ooh! Those pastries look so delicious. I would definitely overstuff myself if I ever went there lol. :)

  48. Haha that's crazy how there is such a long line. Those pastries must be really delicious :D I love Chinese breads and pastries and how they add unconventional things like meat, dried pork, corn, etc :) And Suki is so cute! I love collies!
